Is Jesus Christ Really God? — Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Is Jesus Christ Really God? Is Jesus God in the Flesh? Is Jesus Christ God or Son of God? What’s the difference between Jesus and God? How is Jesus God? How is Jesus a Son and a God?

Are these of any a question you’ve been asking in your mind? Pray quietly for an opening in your understanding as the Lord is about to supply you with an illumination…

Q: Is Jesus Christ Really The Son Of God?

Is Jesus Christ Really God

Transcript: “Is Jesus really God? I know of the concept of the Trinity. But I am still unsure if Jesus is God.”

Also, when I pray, I only pray to God in Jesus’ name. I don’t pray to Jesus HimselfWhy is it that most Christians always praise and worship Jesus instead of God?.”

Ans: YES! Jesus Is God

Pastor Chris Oyakilome [Transcript]: “Thank you”. Beautiful question!… I want to begin my reading with you from saints John chapter fourteen(14); I will read to you from verse four(4).

Here’s Jesus talking to His disciples and we want to hear His words;

(V.4) And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

(V.5) Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

(V.6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(V.7) If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

(V.8) Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

(V.9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

(V.10) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

That’s remarkable! Jesus said ‘I am the Way, the truth, the life(v.6)’. Definite article! ‘THE’ Way! ‘THE’ Truth! ‘THE’ Life.

He didn’t say “I am a way”, He said: ” I am the way”. He didn’t say “I am a truth”, He said: ” I am the truth”. And most remarkably, He said: “I am the life”.

Then He says: “No man cometh to the Father but by me”. (V.7)”If you had known me, you should have known my Father also; and from henceforth you know Him and have seen Him also”. Did you see that?

What is Jesus saying?

Verse 8; “Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us”.

“(v.9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?.”

“(V.10) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works”.

Now, He has brought in here another thing altogether. He says “The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works”. That’s really powerful! He already just came up from talking about going to His father; now he says ‘the Father that dwelleth in me doeth the works.

Verse 11, “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake”.

He talked about His father from heaven above and now He is talking about His Father dwelling in Him. ‘If you have seen me, you have seen the father’.

I just want to first read scriptures to you and then we can make conclusions on the basis of the scripture.

I want us to read from Colossians chapter 1 and verse 13 – “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:“.

Now he says the Father delivered us and translated us; that’s transferred us into the kingdom of His dear son Jesus Christ.

Verse 14 –  “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Verse 15 – “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

This verse says ‘the image of the invisible God. It means one of the characteristics of God is invisible.

Then verse 16 – “For by Him” —talking about Jesus—”For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:“.

CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM. This is Jesus. What could He be if not God?

Verse 17 – “And he is before all things, and by him, all things consist“.

How do you describe this personality if He is not God? What’s could He be?

Verse 18 – “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence“.

Verse 19 – “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;” That means the fullness… The totality of deity… That in Him should all fullness dwell. It pleased the Father that it should be so.

Now, this is amazing; let me read something else with you (just be patient).

Hebrews Chapter one. Remember the question: Is Jesus Really God?

Hebrews chapter 1 beginning with verse 1: “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Verse 2 – “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;”

Verse 3 – “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”

Verse 4 – “Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they”.

If He is not God, what could He be?

I want to read that verse to you from the amplified version. You know amplify does not mean saying something that isn’t there. It just means making whatever that is being said louder and clear.

From verse 2: [Heb.1.2] – “[But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]“.

Now listen to Verse 3: “He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine]”, That’s wonderful!

(contd): “and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God ‘s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power“. This is Jesus! If This is not God, what could this description be?

Let me read you another description from the book of Daniel chapter 7, verse 9; it says:

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire

Verse 10: “A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Now I want to go over to the book of Revelation and I want you to listen. Revelation chapter 1 from verse 14:

Rev.1.12 – And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

Rev.1.13 – And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Rev.1.14 – His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

Rev.1.15 – And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Rev.1.16 – And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

These descriptions are very similar to what Daniel saw!

Verse 17:

Rev.1.17 – And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Rev.1.18 – I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Who is this? This is Jesus! Jesus looks like what Daniel saw; the ancient of days. Jesus looks like the ancient of days.

Remember what Jesus said to His disciples; if you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father. He is trying to tell us He looks exactly like the Father.

No wonder because the Bible tells us “He is the express image of the God”. If you’re going to see the invisible God, the one you’re going to see is Jesus. That’s what He is telling you.

If Jesus Is God, Why Is He Called The ‘Son Of God’?

Man Reading Bible and Thinking,If Jesus Is God, Why Is He Called The 'Son Of God'? | Ask Pastor Chris Oyakilome | AskGospel

If Jesus Is God, Why Is He Called The ‘Son Of God‘ then? Because He came from ‘The Word‘. As John chapter 1, verse 14 says: “The word became flesh and dwelt among us,”. The old King James said, “The Word was made flesh”. The Greek word is ‘ginomai‘; it means ‘to come into existence.

The word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory. Glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth“.

So Jesus came from the word; The word became flesh. He was always the word of God in the bosom of the Father and that word became flesh. That’s what became Jesus—”The Word Of God”.

Jesus is the word of God; the word of God is God. For it says in verse 1 of Saint John’s gospel, Chapter 1:

John. 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John.1.2 – “The same was at the beginning with God.”

John.1.3 – All things were made by him; without him was not anything made that was made.

That word, become flesh—Jesus Christ. He is the word of the father and the express image of the Father. So Jesus is God.

Why Do We Pray To God In Jesus’ Name?

Can Prayer Solve All Problems? Praying To God | AskGospel.Com

Jesus said to pray to the father in His Name. So we don’t pray to Jesus but to the father in the name of Jesus. That’s the way to make requests of God.

Wrapping Up – Is Jesus Really God?

There is so much more we could say along these lines but it’s all the same thing. To explain further to you how that Jesus Christ is God.
