How To Grow Spiritually

TRANSCRIPT: “Good day pastor. I love God very much. But I’m just not growing Spiritually. I prayed and read my Bible, but presently, I’ve stopped because nothing happened. What Should I do? I want to be able to know God and communicate with Him.

ANSWER: “Cultivate The Habit Of Consistent Meditation”

Pastor Chris Oyakilome (TRANSCRIPT): Firstly, I want to read something to you from first Peter chapter two, verse two (1.Pet.2:2).

1Pet.2.2 – As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

This has to do with the elementary fundamental principles of the doctrines of Christ. The simple things, the beginning truths of the gospel: he says we should desire them. Learn them!

This will help you grow. The word says “to desire this and that ye may grow thereby“. Which means the word of God has the power, has the ability to make you grow.

Your problem was; you said that you are not growing Spiritually even though you read your Bible. There is more to read in your bible and I will show that to you in a moment.

But first, I just want you to know that the word of God actually—even the simplest aspects of the word of God (like he says: “As New Babes, desire the sincere milk word, that ye may grow thereby”)—will make you grow.

There is something you’ve got to do and I want to read that to you from first Timothy chapter 4, verse 15 (1.Tim.4:15):

1Tim.4.15 – Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Paul the apostle was writing to Timothy and he has mentioned several things for him to do. And he said to him at the conclusion; he said: “Meditate upon these things”. Now, that has to do with God’s word.

In other words, the second aspect of what you’ve got to do apart from just getting acquainted, desiring God’s word is to meditate. Meditate! Set your heart upon what you study, what you read, what you hear of God’s Word. Meditate!

He says: “MEDITATE upon these things, give thyself wholly, completely to them. That thy profiting may appear to all“. In other words, your growth will be evident even to others. You will know you are growing and others will know you are growing.

Conclusion

Spiritual growth depends so much on the word of God that we absorb into our spirit and what we meditate upon. So, remember, meditation is one key thing you’ll have to do to God’s word if you are going to grow.
